Description
Up to the early 1970's, these structures where seen throughout the Northwest. This was the main way for the lumber industry to discard byproducts from various manufacturing processes. The byproducts, such as bark, slabs and trimmings were feed into the burner by conveyor chains. The material was burned at a high steady heat and the majority of the time there was little or no smoke produced. There are only a few of these relics remaining.
